As past of the Brownfields announcement this week, EPA announced the
establishment of Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund (BCRLF)
Demonstration Pilots. To supplement the initial pilot grants, which
were primarily for environmental assessment, EPA will award up to 29
BCRLF pilots to the local governments that received Brownfields grants
prior to October 1995. As indicated by its name, the Pilot grant
recipients will be able to make funds available to property owners, as
loans, for actual remediation. Next year the BCRLF is expected to be
expanded to cover cities that received later national and regional
brownfields pilots.
