Brownfields Redevelopment Workshop
Charlotte, North Carolina
April 16-17, 1998

The Council for Urban Economic Development (CUED) invites you to
participate in a workshop on brownfields redevelopment, a topic that the
U.S. Conference of Mayors recently identified as the most significant
environmental issue in our nation today. Because the workshop is
supported by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), CUED is able to
offer it to you at a discount price of $55 for CUED members and $65 for
non-members.

EPA, HUD, and EDA all have programs dedicated to supporting the
redevelopment of brownfields. Is your community eligible? Have you
taken the preliminary steps necessary to identify distressed sites.
This seminar will lead you through the steps for cleaning up sites and
leveraging private sector investment.

You will have the opportunity to learn about:
  Contamination, cleanup techniques and costs.
Ways to overcome the liabilities associated with brownfields.
  Applicable federal and state laws.
Where to get federal, state, and local funds.
  Mechanisms for community involvement.
  How to attract private investment.

Hotel rooms are only available at the special rate until Wednesday,
March 25.
