Hello Everyone, I think this 2 to 4 year fellowship announcement might be of interest to people who like to work on economic and social problems. I assume there would also be the opportunity to work on Brownfields issues as well. Tony Chenhansa For more information and application information go to http://www.hud.gov/cb/cbmainmn.html Summary In partnership with Harvard University, the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development has launched the Community Builders Fellowship program to educate and train individuals from diverse professions as Community Builders. As a Community Builder you would obtain practical hands on experience in community and economic development. Fellowship The program offers paid temporary fellowships for skilled professionals from many walks of life: bankers, school principals, law enforcement officials, directors of non-profits, social workers, academics, economic development experts, health care workers, doctors, and other professions. The fellow would be placed in one of the 81 HUD field offices and serve as the agency's first point of contact. the Community Builder will help home buyers, tenants, community leaders, non-profits, foundations, mayors, county executives, and business owners If chosen, the person would receive two weeks of orientation at HUD and 4 weeks of training from Harvard University's School of Government during the first two years of fellowship. A Community Builder is a paid Federal Employee who receives the same benefits as other Federal Employees. Salaries are paid at the higher federal pay grades, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 a year. The application deadline is May 1, 1998.
