THE ABA 27th NATIONAL SPRING CONFERENCE ON THE ENVIRONMENT

The Next Wave of Environmental Protection: Coming to Grips with the
Challenges of Federal-State Relations

June 12-13, 1998

William F. Bolger Center for Leadership Development
Potomac, Maryland

This year, the ABA Standing Committee on Environmental Law examines the
successful collaborations of federal and state decision makers on
challenging  areas of environmental protection and on how new and innovative
approaches are affecting environmental law practice and policy making.

Thought-provoking keynote addresses will be delivered by DALE CURTIS,
Publisher, The National Journal+s Greenwire Environmental News Daily, and
the Honorable DON RITTER, founder and chairman of the National Environmental
Policy Institute and former congressman from Pennsylvania. Three interactive
panel sessions will address demanding cleanup issues, sensitive Western
natural resource matters, and differing state and federal approaches to
environmental compliance and enforcement.

This timely conference offers a unique learning and networking experience
for professionals who deal with environmental and natural resource issues,
including private and public sector lawyers; state, local and federal
regulatory and policy making staff and officials; and researchers and
academics.  As an added benefit,  continuing legal education credits (CLE)
will be offered.
