Subject: 1999 Industrial Sites Recycling Conference

August 30, 1999

Dear Colleague:

As you may know, the Fifth Annual Industrial Sites Recycling Conference
is fast approaching. The conference is sponsored by the Engineers’
Society of Western Pennsylvania. We are looking forward to an exciting
and informative event in Pittsburgh on September 14 and 15. In
addition, we are pleased to be working with the U.S. EPA, Pennsylvania
DEP, HUD, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the National Brownfields
Association who will present a series of specialized forums on September
13 and 16 (before and after the conference.)

This year’s program includes and goes beyond the “classic” brownfields
issues of site remediation and includes tracks on the role of
brownfields in economic development and planning for communities. State
and federal activities including the Clinton Administration’s Better
America Bonds Initiative underscore the timeliness of the issues being
addressed.

Speakers at the conference include regional and national experts in
their fields as well as special appearances by:
     The Honorable Tom Ridge, Governor of Pennsylvania;
The Honorable Tom Murphy, Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh; and
Tim Fields, Assistant Administrator of the EPA.

We hope that you will be able to join us for this annual event and to
recognize the finalists and winners of the 1999 Phoenix Awards
showcasing some of the finest redevelopment projects in the country.

Please feel free to call us at (412) 261-0710 with any questions or go
to the conference web site at www.eswp.com/site.html.

      Sincerely,
      Davitt B. Woodwell
      Conference Chair
