Owner plans cleanup of former industrial site Milford seeks development of Wampus Lane parcel GREG SHULAS Connecticut Post September 24, 2005 MILFORD - Efforts to spur economic growth on a contaminated industrial site have gained new momentum after the owner pledged to clean up the property. The 24-acre parcel at 80 Wampus Lane has failed to live up to its potential for years, city officials said Wednesday. Complicating development is the presence of contaminants in the soil and groundwater there, including volatile organic compounds and possibly cyanide. Wampus Milford Associates LLC of Bedford, N.Y., has filed plans with the Inland Wetlands Agency to remove 200 cubic yards of tainted soil and replace it with clean fill to make the property more attractive for investment purposes. The company's owner, Edward Lapidus, also wants to restore a section of the Stubby Plain Brook that abuts the property. ...
