From polluted shoreline to park in West SeattleBy LISA STIFFLER SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER (WA) September 21, 2005 Residents could one day dig for clams on a slice of Seattle shoreline that's been transformed from Superfund cleanup site to community park. Environmental Protection Agency authorities Tuesday announced the completion of the $36.5 million cleanup of a former wood-treatment facility on the eastern shores of West Seattle. Once soaked in toxic creosote, the site has been reclaimed. Part of the land is open to the public as Jack Block Park, a little wedge of green amid industrial operations. ...
