In the months -- and maybe even years -- to come, state and federal agencies will be working to remove thousands of houses, hundreds of thousands of cars and assorted debris that may or may not be destined for hazardous-waste landfills. Two months after Hurricane Katrina, the challenges of cleaning Louisiana's coast stretch into the distance for agencies like the state Department of Environmental Quality. There are between 150,000 and 160,000 flood-damaged homes. Many of those are not habitable and may need to be demolished. ...
