Proposed state bill seeks to verify racism claims

State Sen. Kathryn Bowers and State Rep. Johnny Shaw plan to introduce a 
bill into the General Assembly this session that would require an 
environmental racism study in the Eno Road area in Dickson.

The bill would require the Department of Environment and Conservation to 
conduct a study into the allegations of environmental racism in the Eno 
Road community near the Dickson County Landfill to determine if 
African-Americans experience higher incidences of cancer, birth defects, 
immunologic diseases or toxic hazard exposure.
