Republicans come up with redevelopment incentives
GREENVILLE — Republicans in the Michigan House of Representatives announced a package of five bills Thursday that would help communities redevelop underutilized or contaminated properties. The bills would exempt property taxes on new equipment for eligible companies, cap property taxes on improvements to obsolete or contaminated properties, allow all municipalities to establish Brownfield Redevelopment authorities and designate neighborhood enterprise zones. State Rep. Judy Emmons, R-Sheridan, said currently only 97 core communities selected by the state qualify for these programs.
