Brockton on cutting edge with solar projectBy Jennifer Kovalich Brockton Enterprise (MA) April 28, 2006 BROCKTON — About 150 years ago, Bay State Gas Co. was manufacturing gas from coal on Grove Street to power street lights. Now, on the same property, the gas company is partnering with the city to bring a different kind of power to Brockton, this time from the sun. "It's almost poetic," said Stephen Bryant, president of Bay State Gas Co. As the sun beamed brightly Thursday, city, state and federal officials celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking for New England's largest solar field. ...
