Mantua lays out groundwork for brownfield site
MANTUA TWP. -- Fifty acres zoned for redevelopment along Lambs Road were the focus of nearly 70 people from across the county, state and nation on Wednesday, as the township hosted an all-day event on the National Brownfield Association pilot project here. The day - which included a site walk and presentation by brownfield experts -- helped the township lay out the process to prioritize its goals for the abandoned 12-acre Struthers Dunn site and adjacent 38-acre Lambs Road Associates property. "Today helped bring complexities down to simple steps," said Robert Colangelo, founder and chief executive officer of the National Brownfield Association. He said the township must decide what it wants to achieve for the community, from options like increasing the tax base, creating new jobs and cleaning up blight. ...
