Petoskey approves development's brownfield planBy Ryan Bentley Petoskey News-Review (MI) June 7, 2006 Petoskey City Council members gave their consent Monday to plans for soil contamination on a downtown redevelopment site to be cleaned up through Emmet County's brownfield redevelopment program. The council voted 4-1 to concur with the redevelopment plan, in which the county would reimburse Lake Street Petoskey Associates of Farmington Hills for cleanup expenses on the site of the firm's proposed Petoskey Pointe project. Petoskey Pointe, which is slated to be built on the block bounded by Mitchell, Petoskey and Lake streets and U.S. 31, would include hotel and residential condominiums, a spa, conference center, restaurant, parking garage, courtyard and commercial retail space. Demolition of existing buildings on the block to make way for the project is expected to take place in the coming weeks. ...
