New press site brings life to former JC brownfield
JOHNSON CITY -- The $50 million Gannett Central New York Production Facility began printing issues of The Ithaca Journal early this morning, ending a three-year planning process of the state-of-the-art printing press. The facility sits on a former brownfield and will employ more than 100 people. It will print papers for the Journal, the Press & Sun-Bulletin and the Elmira Star-Gazette. Representatives from the Journal and from Gannett, the parent company of the three papers, remained in the building as the murmur of new machines filled the building. ...
