84 Lumber Builds Cleans Up
Brownfield, Builds New Plant

The 17 acre site on Terminal Drive has many assets - It's close to the beltline, and a rail line runs through it. But no one wanted to deal with the problems you can't see. Petroleum containers, and below ground pipes had to be removed, and the contaminated soil cleaned up. 84 Lumber CEO and Founder Joseph Hardy saw the potential of the property, and in the Spring of 2007, the Company will add another to its 500 locations nationwide.

Cleaning up the property will cost at least $1.3 million. The Village of McFarland gave $530,000 in Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) and the State Department of Commerce awarded 84 Lumber with two brownfield grants totalling $650,000.
