3 more Hillcrest properties will get TCE venting systems By Tom Wilber Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) August 16, 2006 HILLCREST -- Three more Hillcrest properties will require systems to block subterranean plumes of TCE, according to the latest round of tests from the state, bringing the total so far to 95. Testing for trichloroethylene at "a few" more properties is likely in the coming heating season, said Thomas Suozzo, an engineer with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The exact number and location will be determined in a report expected in coming months, he added. Letters documenting the results went out to affected property owners late last week, Suozzo said Monday. Meanwhile, the state is working with Triple Cities Metal Finishing, owner of a former metal plating factory on Nowlan Road, to try to understand where the pollution might be coming from and how it moves through the ground. ...
