Board keeps millage, drops school siteBy Jake Jacobs MACON TELEGRAPH (GA) September 9, 2006 FORT VALLEY - The Board of Education decided to keep things as they are, as far as the millage rate goes. ... The board also revisited the architect's report on a proposed elementary school site off Newell Road near the old Powersville Road landfill in northern Peach County. Michael McNeal of TTL Inc., in charge of an environmental assessment of the site, told board members there was no danger from the site's contaminated groundwater, but some of the methane-monitoring vents gave evidence of the gas slightly exceeding the lower explosive limits set by the Environmental Protection Agency. ...
