Plan to vent toxins airedBy Theresa Freeman MetroWest Daily News (MA) September 22, 2006 ASHLAND -- Federal officials last night reviewed how they planned to ventilate about 40 homes and business at risk of collecting toxic vapors, while residents questioned how they decided which buildings to target. About 40 residents last night in the high school auditorium looked over enlarged maps and questioned U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officials about the latest cleanup projects for the Nyanza Superfund site. Last month, the EPA announced vapors rising off a half-mile long plume of contaminated groundwater -- from the former Nynaza dye manufacturing company -- posed a "fractional" cancer risk. The cancer warning was based on an analysis of indoor air samples from 14 homes, Town Hall and the Police Department, said Jim DiLorenzo, an EPA project manager for the Nyanza cleanup. ...
