City to redevelop former J.A. Richards Co. site

The city is taking the first steps toward acquiring 2.5 acres of 
abandoned industrial property on Kalamazoo's northeast side to 
eventually raze and redevelop.

The former site of J.A. Richards Co., at Parsons and North Pitcher 
streets, is expected to become available soon as tax-reverted property, 
according to Jerome Kisscorni, Kalamazoo Economic Development Corp. 
executive director.

With that in mind, Kisscorni said the city already has acquired an 
adjacent residential parcel at 314 Parsons St., and plans to clear and 
consolidate the sites for future industrial/warehouse development. The 
residential parcel also was a tax-reverted property.
