Roosevelt school is late, $10M over cost BY JOHN HILDEBRAND Long Island Newsday (NY) January 8, 2007Construction of a Roosevelt middle school is running $10 million over budget and more than a year behind schedule, according to state officials who blame overruns on the costs of cleaning up toxic pesticides on the site. State authorities add that delays in the middle-school project also will push back planned renovations of Roosevelt High School by a year, and that extra costs for the middle school could force cuts in the amount of work done at the high school. While the state and county argue about who is responsible for the contamination cleanup, the cost overruns put a further burden on a school district that is the poorest in Nassau County. ...
