Wabash Y handed deed New building will occupy 1 of 5 cleaned brownfields By Becky Manley Fort Wayne Journal Gazette (IN) January 24, 2007WABASH - The deed for a former brownfield in downtown Wabash was passed Tuesday from the city to the organizers of a new YMCA. Gov. Mitch Daniels was among those in attendance at the Honeywell Center who watched Mayor Robert Vanlandingham read a proclamation marking the deed transfer. Before it was cleaned, the property at 410 S. Carroll St. contained a building with a saggy roof, buckling walls and waste that posed a hazard to the environment, Vanlandingham said. "The city's more than anxious to get this property into your hands," Vanlandingham said to Julie Echard, executive director of the YMCA. ...
