Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] Five "eco-towns" planned for UK brownfields |
UK Property News May 14, 2007 In Great Britain, Gordon Brown, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, has announced plans to boost UK property shortages with the construction of five new eco-towns on brownfield sites if his prime ministerial bid is successful. Brown has promised to build 100,000 homes on each of the five developments which will be powered by locally generated energy from sustainable sources. He has also outlined plans to increase the number of homes being built in the UK from 185,000 to 200,000 "as quickly as possible" in order to meet a surge in demand.
