FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Colorado Brownfields Foundation (CBF) Receives Challenge Grant >From the Anschutz Family Foundation
CBF aims to leverage these dollars to help Colorado achieve healthier and more economically productive communities

Littleton------The Anschutz family, a well respected and discriminating Colorado Foundation, will match donations made to CBF up to $5,000 between now and October 15th. These tax deductible donations will help The Colorado Brownfields Foundation successfully assist communities across the state with brownfields management.

A brownfield is any dilapidated site where reuse or redevelopment is complicated by hazardous substances, pollutants, or environmental contaminants. According to the US General Accounting Office there are over 400,000 brownfield sites across the country.  In Colorado, an estimated 1,000 brownfield sites exist including former gas stations, dry cleaners, auto services, manufacturing facilities, mine and milling sites, landfills, and other former commercial and industrial sites across the state. Recognizing this community crisis, the Colorado Brownfields Foundation has taken the lead for the state of Colorado in addressing and planning for the cleanup and sustainable reuse of brownfields.

This challenge grant is a vital asset for CBF. Not only will it help raise funds to help propel this organization’s mission, it also reflects the viability and significance of CBF and its work.
