Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] Hudson Falls (NY) uses BF Opportunity Areas program funding to plan for development |
Old pollution may help the Village of Hudson Falls get a new look. The Post-Star By Melissa Guay September 23 2007 HUDSON FALLS ---The village is using money from a Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program grant, awarded by the Department of State in 2004, to help fund the first phase of a planning study to develop a revitalization strategy, and is seeking community input. The program was created to help communities with several brownfield sites, usually old industrial sites, close together. According to a New York state government Web site, grant money and technical assistance are available to eligible local governments and community-based organizations for developing site assessments and plans for brownfields remediation. The idea is that revitalization of the whole area is more efficient and cost-effective than several individual projects.
