Sheraton needs big cleanup By Monica Serrano Gary Post-Tribune (IN) November 13, 2007 GARY-- Residents at a public meeting Monday called for city residents to have a chance to work on a multimillion-dollar renovation of the former Sheraton hotel downtown. The meeting at the City Hall annex was to explain the safety issues the clean-up of the hotel would bring to the city. "We're out to build something with this project. This is the first stone to get other projects going in Gary," said Phillip Kupritz of the New Gary Development Group. The EPA conducted assessments and concluded that the Sheraton hotel was approved to be renovated as a brownfield redevelopment, said staff from the city environmental affairs department. ...
