Deadline extended at cleanup of Waterbury brownfield site BY ROBYN ADAMS WATERBURY REPUBLICAN-AMERICAN December 1, 2007 WATERBURY -- With work at a standstill, the Waterbury Development Corp. voted Friday to give itself another year to clean a contaminated East Main Street site that had housed the old Mattatuck Manufacturing plant. Leo Frank, interim executive director of the Waterbury Development Corp., said Friday the environmental work is 75 percent done but a myriad of issues with the owner are preventing completion of the project. The plant was demolished in 2002, as part of a deal between its owner, Gilbert Boutin, the city and the state Department of Economic and Community Development. ...
