Brownfield projects turning useless property into things of beauty in city By Jenny Lancour- jlancour@dailypress.net Escanaba Daily Press (MI) December 10, 2007 ESCANABA - Escanaba's Brownfield Development Authority continues to make headway since the board regrouped a year ago. Development of property is in the works at a few locations in the city, in large part due to Brownfield opportunities. Brownfield Public Act 381 reimburses developers for the cost of specific work done to improve blighted property. To qualify for the reimbursement, the property must be contaminated, underutilized or functionally obsolete. ... Sites approved recently for Brownfield redevelopment include the former Roland Machinery property on North Lincoln Road, which Upper Peninsula State Bank has purchased to build a new bank. Another site is property on West Ludington Street, owned by Riverside Town & Country, to expand its car dealership lot. Buildings were demolished at both sites. ...
