Eliot Spitzer and the Greens have generally enjoyed a cozy relationship, with the governor tapping a number of former environmental activists to serve in his administration. But that marriage, while perhaps not completely over, appears to be headed toward a separation - effective immediately. "Governor Spitzer and Commissioner (Pete) Grannis (of the state Department of Environmental Conservation) have yet to show that they care about protecting public health at brownfield sites," Laura Haight, senior environmental associate with the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), said in a statement released today. ...
