Community center planned at landfill By RICHARD PEARSALL Cherry Hill Courier-Post (NJ) December 5, 2007 CAMDEN The Harrison Avenue Landfill has been part of a number of grand plans to revive the city's Cramer Hill section since closing in 1971. Among them was the Cherokee company's proposal to build a golf course there as part of a billion-dollar redevelopment blueprint. None of those plans came to fruition. But on Tuesday, state and city officials gathered at the old landfill to celebrate a more limited plan that is moving forward. Armed with a $54 million grant from the estate of Joan Kroc, the wife of McDonald's founder Ray Kroc, the Camden chapter of the Salvation Army is moving ahead with plans to build a massive community center on a section of the 85-acre landfill. ...
