Alticor eyes tax breaks

The Township Board approved a brownfield redevelopment plan for 
Alticor's complex, 7575 E. Fulton St. SE, so it can buy new equipment to 
make powdered laundry detergent for "a brand-name product for another 
company," project manager Rick VanDellen said.

The former Amway Corp., which was built on soap products, completed a 
costly cleanup in 2003 of lagoons on the northeast side of the complex 
used in the 1960s for wastewater treatment. The site became contaminated 
with cleaning solvents and concentrations of cancer-causing 
polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
