Kinsey Probasco Hayes to lead joint venture picked to develop 350-acre

Alcoa Inc.'s old West Plant property off Hall Road in Alcoa will soon be
developed by the Chattanooga company that redeveloped the Sunsphere and
the World's Fair site in Knoxville.

Alcoa Inc. signed a letter of intent Thursday with a joint venture led
by Kinsey Probasco Hayes to develop land where the company's first plant
was built in 1920. The other member of the joint venture is
International Risk Group of Denver, Colo., which has considerable
experience in "brownfield" redevelopment, said Alcoa Inc. spokeswoman
Melissa Copelan.

The site could be developed as retail and office space and possibly a
hotel, one Alcoa city official said.

The company stressed that development of the 350-acre West Plant site
would have nothing to do with expanding the company's aluminum
production facilities, Copelan said.
