BOYNTON BEACH - Lloyd Powell spends weekday afternoons watching traffic
roll past his floral shop on Federal Highway. Sometimes he counts
boxcars that pass on the rails beyond the road.

It wasn't so slow when he opened nearly three decades ago. He'd be happy
to sell and move on, but no one's nibbling.

A brownfield designation Boynton Beach is seeking for its Community
Redevelopment Agency area could help.

The city commission on Tuesday directed staff to sketch a map for the
designation, which is limited to commercial and industrial properties,
along with residential redevelopment projects. Commissioners expect to
vote on the designation within the next few months.
