Key ruling ahead for lakefront project By Hilary Smith Rochester Daily Messenger (NY) May 29, 2008,Canandaigua, N.Y. - The town Planning Board is currently reviewing RSM Development Co.'s revised environmental impact statement for the proposed $70 million Residences at West Lake Marine Club project on West Lake Road. The board had 30 days from when the statement was received - on May 13 - to determine whether it is adequate for public review. It is expected to make that determination or seek an extension at its June 10 meeting. ...The document submitted to the town Planning Board last week states that the project, as proposed, would utilize "an environmentally sensitive design approach." It cites a number of environmentally friendly aspects to the project, including a comprehensive storm water management plan that limits and controls the release of runoff; a ban on the use of fertilizers; a phased-in construction plan that minimizes runoff; and the cleanup of existing petroleum contamination at the German Brothers Marina. ...
