Port Authority to study former GE site By JESSICA STANTON Lancaster Eagle Gazette (OH) Jul 11, 2008COSHOCTON - The Coshocton Port Authority met Thursday and discussed the former General Electric brownfield site on South Second Street as a possible acquisition. The port authority board passed a resolution to conduct a third party environmental and redevelopment feasibility study of the site, now owned by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, International. The port authority has been reviewing cleanup documents with various environmental consulting firms and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency since last summer. "Despite many urban legends within the community, the fact is that the owners of the property have engaged in considerable cleanup unlike many other former industrial properties around Ohio," said Executive Director T.J. Justice. "This is the city of Coshocton's best chance for new and significant economic development activity on a brownfield site." ...
