Hastings seeks state OK of tax money for cleanup project by Erin Albanese The Grand Rapids Press September 22, 2008HASTINGS -- The city is seeking state approval of $221,125 in local and school tax-captures for redevelopment of a brownfield site poised to become a downtown Hastings gateway. City representatives planned to meet with Michigan Economic Growth Authority officials today for consideration of a work-plan request for the site, which is bounded by Park and Apple, Broadway and State streets. Already approved by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is $397,900 in brownfield tax-increment financing for environmental work, including contaminant cleanup. ...
