State will help clean up Grandview Yard

The polluted 'brownfield' may get more than $800,000 from the Ohio EPA after being deemed a high priority.

When the former site of a large industrial complex such as the Big Bear warehouses in Grandview is cleared away, it's not always just the visible flotsam and jetsam that's left behind.

Grandview Heights city officials have received word that their application to the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund Grant was ranked high enough by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to be awarded state money to help clean up the area.

The city of Grandview submitted a study in August of the 10.46-acre "brownfield" at 842 W. Goodale Blvd. on the future site of the Grandview Yard project.
