Environmental testing slated for East Billings district

Environmental assessments will begin soon in the East Billings Urban 
Renewal District, an area between downtown and MetraPark that is being 
targeted for significant redevelopment.

The Big Sky Economic Development Authority's Board of Commissioners 
recently awarded a contract to AECOM Environment, an environmental 
engineering and consulting firm, which will do a study over the next 
three years. Last spring the Environmental Protection Agency announced 
that it had awarded Big Sky EDA two grants for $400,000 from the EPA 
Brownfields Program. Big Sky EDA and AECOM are still negotiating a final 
amount for the contract, but it is expected to be less than the amount 
awarded by the EPA.
