Film studio to announce $146M Allen Park project Nathan Hurst The Detroit News (MI) April 13, 2009Allen Park - This Detroit suburb will soon become home to one of Michigan's largest film studios. Officials are expected to announce Tuesday a $146 million project that will turn a 104-acre site in Allen Park into an assembly line of sorts for filmed entertainment, including movies, television and new media, two sources familiar with the project told The Detroit News. ....Sources have confirmed that the company, Unity Studios, will be headed by Jimmy Lifton, a native Detroiter whose Oracle Post outfit in California has worked on a number of big TV and movie projects, including outsourced work for MTV Networks and NBC Universal. ....Sources wouldn't confirm the exact site of the location, which will be developed on what was described as brownfield property once used by auto-making firms. ....
