Soil cleanup near for Endicott site By William Moyer Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) April 26, 2009ENDICOTT - An estimated $4 million cleanup of the contaminated soil at a former dry cleaning site, using a process known as In-Situ Thermal Desorption, is expected to begin by the end of May. After a test late last year showed the process can remove 99 percent of the estimated 500 pounds of tetrachloroethene left in the ground from , the state Department of Environmental Conservation approved the process for the entire property between Jackson and Arthur avenues, south of North Street. The quarter-acre site should be cleaned by early 2010, said Michael Maloney, of IBM Energy & Environment Communications. ...
