Buick City redevelopment project focus of brownfield forum by Kristin Longley The Flint Journal (MI) August 26, 2009FLINT, Michigan -- A group of local, state and federal officials are working on overcoming the largest hurdle to redeveloping Buick City -- the site's long-term environmental liability. That progress was the focus of a Brownfield Community Forum held this morning by the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce. "I am somewhat optimistic as to getting the liability unlocked by the end of the year," said Tim Herman, CEO of the chamber. "But there's still a lot of work to be done." An interested investor, who officials declined to name, is willing to put up $25 million to transform Buick City into an intermodal rail-to-truck transportation hub that could bring as many as 600 jobs. ...
