Cleanup ongoing at Randolph contamination site BY MATT MANOCHIO Morris County Daily Record (NJ) August 28, 2009RANDOLPH — Even though environmental remediation has been ongoing at the Gordon Publications, Inc., property on Emery Avenue for two years, the state still wants people to know about it. AdvertisementThat's because, due to a new state Department of Environmental Protection policy, the public must be notified of every remediation project via a newspaper advertisement. "The notification requirement ... is a relatively new requirement put into our rules not all that long ago," DEP spokeswoman Karen Hershey said Thursday. The deadline for such notifications is Sept. 2, and the Gordon Publications ad ran on Aug. 27. "The cleanup has been ongoing for a couple of years now," Hershey said. "Obviously the cleanup is continuing. It's progressing." ...
