Residents decry quick review Cottagedale zone change, cleanup questioned By Ron MacArthur Cape Gazette (DE) September 18, 2009Living next door to a brownfield is one thing, but having hundreds of people living in apartments on a former landfill site is going too far, at least as far as some residents in the Eagle Point neighborhood are concerned. The Eagle Point Coalition is on a campaign to halt the proposed Arbors of Cottagedale apartment complex near Lewes with an arsenal of scientific and legal data aimed at county and state officials. Eagle Point residents share a border with the proposed apartment complex land, which also contains a Nanticoke Indian grave site. They say county officials circumvented the planning and zoning process by allowing the developer to receive bonus density and an expedited review. They also say state officials did not follow protocol in collecting samples from the brownfield site. ....
