Village of Ilion continues work on contamination clean-up By David Robinson Herkimer Evening Telegram (NY) Thu September 24, 2009,Ilion, N.Y. - After a year of studies and clean up work, and a total cost of $235,000, the village of Ilion may soon be able to address a contaminated site at 121 to 125 W. Main St., commonly referred to as Wood's Tire Service site after the last tenant. The Village Board on Wednesday received a project summary from a representative of the Syracuse engineering firm, Barton & Loguidice, that worked on the site, located across from Ilion Lumber. David Hanny, managing environmental scientist, went over an extensive list of contaminants removed from the 5,500 square foot site, which contained an automobile garage. ...
