Work crews due to arrive for Twelve Mile Creek project Anderson Independent Mail (SC) October 9, 2009PICKENS - Work crews will be arriving on site next week to begin restoration of the Twelve Mile Creek watershed in Pickens County. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Friday that beginning next week, Schlumberger would begin the construction phase of restoration activities. The company has selected a contractor that will prepare a sediment management unit off Old Henderson Road near SC 137. The sediment management unit is being constructed for containment of sediment that will be removed from behind the Woodside I and II dams. The sediment will be transported via pipelines to the unit, reducing the need for truck traffic to transport the sediment. "Every effort will be made to limit impacts to the local community, including, to the extent possible, avoidance of nighttime and weekend work," said Stephen Harris, spokesman for Schlumberger. ...
