At a Sparks park, experts are probing the ground in a continuing search for a toxic pollutant that’s probably been there for decades.

The monitoring well at Paradise Park is just the latest part of a long-term, ongoing effort to remedy pollution from a solvent present in the ground water of the Truckee Meadows.

They’re looking for PCE, a de-greasing solvent that has shown up in trace amounts at a nearby drinking water well operated by the Truckee Meadows Water Authority.
