Action allows plan for apartments to advanceNext step is for developer to file an application with Manalapan Planning Board BY MARK ROSMAN News Transcript December 23, 2009MANALAPAN - A plan to construct a 100 percent affordable housing apartment complex on Wood Avenue, Manalapan, just outside of Englishtown was advanced by the Manalapan Township Committee on Dec. 16. ...Jayne Carr, who is a councilwoman in Englishtown, asked the committee to considerwhy the current owner of the property is not cleaning up the Wood Avenue parcel. It was noted that the land where the apartments are now a permitted use is a brownfields site with some level of environmental contamination. Schwager said additional environmental investigation will occur as the project moves forward. She said if the project comes to fruition, the developer will examine the site and remediate it to meet residential standards. ...
