Report finds contaminated soil at Westport site By Grant Welker Fall River Herald News (MA) December 30, 2009Westport — Contaminated soil could delay a proposed subdivision at a gravel plant in the Head of Westport — or block it altogether — based on environmental reports that say contamination remains despite the removal of tons of soil. A recent environmental review said harmful materials still exist more than a decade after a 20,000-gallon underground diesel tank was removed and contaminated soil was found at the Westport Stone & Sand Corporation on Old County Road. "There is a potential for a risk to human health depending upon future property use and the pending site remediation activities," said the review. ...
