Cleanup, construction planned for brownfield site in Plainfield By MARK SPIVEY mycentraljersey.com January 25, 2010PLAINFIELD — The city plans to convert one of its more depressing lots into one of its more promising ones, local and state officials announced during a Monday afternoon news conference held at City Hall. Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs was joined by U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., D-Sixth District, and Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator Judith Enck in announcing the start of assessment efforts at 208-222 Lee Place, one of nearly 100 sites in the city that have been identified as possible brownfield remediation sites. The city ultimately plans to construct four units of affordable housing on the property in the form of a pair of two-family homes, said Robinson-Briggs. ...
