Plaza Properties returns cleanup money for casino site By Eric Lyttle Columbus Other Paper (OH) January 26, 2010Plaza Properties, the Columbus developer that sold Penn National property in the Arena District for a proposed casino, sent a check to Mayor Mike Coleman Tuesday for $98,873. The money had been issued to Plaza last year as reimbursement for work completed as part of a $750,000 brownfield cleanup grant from the state's Clean Ohio fund. The city had applied for the grant on behalf of Plaza Properties with the understanding that Plaza would develop a residential/retail complex on the former Jaeger Machine Company site at the west end of Nationwide Boulevard. But when Penn National approached Plaza last March about purchasing an option on the site for the development of a casino, Plaza agreed. Penn exercised its option on the site Jan. 16. ...
