Board of Supervisors: Masonite site's soil and groundwater to be
discussed Tuesday
Ukiah Daily Journal (CA) Staff March 1, 2010Soil and groundwater cleanup at the old Masonite site, a retirement actuarial study and county hiring are topics on the Tuesday Mendocino County Board of Supervisors agenda. County Supervisor John McCowen requested the board discuss what the county's role should be in remediating soil and groundwater contamination at the defunct Masonite industrial site. "Questions persist in the community" about how much and what type of contamination occurred, he said, and about whether the site was properly characterized, including "anecdotal reports of improperly disposed of toxic substances and the absence of numerous files that were required to be filed with the Mendocino County Department of Environmental Health." ...
